Artificial Turf Infill ·
The right infill makes your turf perform better, last longer, and look the way it should. Premium Grass Blades supplies professional-grade infill for every application — from everyday
Why Infill Matters
Many homeowners and first-time buyers overlook infill — treating it as an add-on rather than a core part of the turf system. In reality, infill is what determines how your artificial turf feels underfoot, how well it drains, how long the fibres stay upright, and how effectively it manages odour in pet areas.
Without the right infill at the right depth, even a premium turf can mat down, shift, drain poorly, or develop odour problems over time. The infill is doing structural work — supporting the blades, stabilising the backing, and balancing the drainage system.
Different applications need different infill. A pet run has completely different performance requirements than a residential lawn or a putting green. Premium Grass Blades stocks the right infill for each one, and our team can help you match the product to your specific project.
Not sure how much infill you need? Infill quantity depends on your turf product, pile height, and application. Contact our team with your square footage and turf choice — we’ll calculate the right quantity and product combination for your specific install.

Our Infill Range
Each infill type is engineered for a specific performance need. Here’s what each one does, where it works best, and why it matters for your turf system.
Silica sand is the standard infill for general-purpose artificial turf installations. Its fine, uniform granules stabilise the backing, support blade structure, and maintain a consistent surface feel across the entire installed area. Kiln-dried, screened for uniformity, and cost-effective.
Residential front and back yards
Side yards and lower-traffic areas
General landscape installations
Budget-conscious projects
Base layer in blended infill systems
Zeo Odour is a mineral-based infill engineered specifically for pet-friendly turf installations. Its porous zeolite structure absorbs ammonia and moisture at the granule level — reducing odours, improving drainage, and helping turf stay fresher and more comfortable over time.
Dog runs and pet areas
Family yards with multiple pets
Kennel and boarding facilities
Any area where odour control is a priority
Hot climates or enclosed outdoor spaces
Turf Armor is a specialty angular infill built for high-traffic turf applications. Its dark emerald-green micro-granules resist compaction and interlock with turf fibres to create a firm, stable surface that holds up under constant use, making it the right choice for commercial zones.
Commercial and strata properties
Playgrounds and daycares
Sports surfaces and training areas
High-traffic residential backyards
Events, hospitality, and rooftop spaces

CALCULATING INFILL QUALITY
Infill quantity depends on three things: your square footage, the pile height of your turf, and how the space will be used. Getting this right matters — too little and blades won’t stand upright; too much and the surface will feel stiff and drain slowly.
As a general starting point, most residential turf installs require 1–2 lbs of infill per square foot. Pet areas and high-traffic zones often need more. Putting greens use a specific silica sand product at a different application rate.
The easiest approach: give us your square footage, your turf product name, and your intended use — and we’ll calculate the right quantity for you.
General starting points — confirm with our team for your specific turf product.
1–1.5
lbs per sq ft
Residential lawn (silica sand)
1.5–2
lbs per sq ft
Pet area (Zeo Odour or blend)
2–3
lbs per sq ft
High-traffic (Turf Armor blend)
Putting green infill is different. Putting greens use a specific kiln-dried silica sand for consistent roll speed and surface firmness. The application rate and spreading method differ from general turf infill. Ask us about our dedicated putting green silica sand product.
WHERE INFILL MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
Different spaces put different demands on your turf system. Here’s the recommended infill
approach for each application type.
Silica sand as the base. If pets are present, add Zeo Odour. High-traffic family yards benefit from a Turf Armor top layer.
Recommended: Silica Sand or Blend
Zeo Odour is the clear recommendation — zeolite structure absorbs ammonia and controls odour at the source.
Recommended: Zeo Odour
Turf Armor’s compaction resistance handles constant high-impact foot traffic. Non-toxic and safe for everyday use.
Recommended: Turf Armor
Dedicated kiln-dried silica sand for consistent ball roll, surface firmness, and predictable speed performance.
Recommended: Putting Green Silica Sand
Turf Armor resists compaction under daily commercial traffic. Works well in blended systems with silica sand as the base.
Recommended: Turf Armor + Silica Blend
Silica sand in lighter quantities — enough to support blade structure without adding excessive weight on elevated surfaces.
Recommended: Silica Sand (Light Rate)

INFILL QUESTIONS
Honest answers to the most common infill questions from
Yes, for virtually all outdoor applications. Infill stabilises the turf backing, supports the blade structure, improves drainage performance, and helps the turf feel and look natural. Without it, blades flatten quickly, the surface can shift, and drainage slows. The only exceptions are some very short-pile indoor or decorative turf applications where infill isn't required.
Infill quantity depends on your square footage, turf pile height, and application. General starting points: 1–1.5 lbs/sq ft for residential lawn, 1.5–2 lbs/sq ft for pet areas, 2–3 lbs/sq ft for high-traffic installs. Share your turf product name and square footage with us and we'll calculate the exact quantity.
Zeo Odour is the recommended infill for pet areas. Its zeolite mineral structure absorbs ammonia at the source — reducing odours rather than masking them. For high-pet-use areas, a blend of silica sand base with Zeo Odour as the top layer is a common and effective approach.
Turf Armor is designed for high-traffic applications. Its angular micro-granules resist compaction and interlock with turf fibres to maintain surface stability under daily heavy use. For commercial installs, a blended system with silica sand base and Turf Armor as the top layer provides both cost efficiency and high-traffic performance.
Yes. Infill is spread using a drop spreader and worked down into the pile with a power broom or stiff brush. It's a manageable DIY task. Our team can advise on spreading technique, application rate, and the right tools. We stock Garland power brooms in-store for this purpose.
Yes, significantly. The right infill at the right rate helps maintain consistent drainage. Zeo Odour specifically improves drainage in pet areas by reducing organic matter buildup. Over-filling can slow drainage, so applying the correct quantity for your specific turf product is important.
Occasional brushing keeps infill distributed evenly and fibres upright. For pet areas, regular rinsing maintains Zeo Odour's effectiveness. Over time in high-traffic zones, small amounts of infill can shift — topping up is simple and cost-effective.
